How to install a screen protector perfectly – iPhone/Android

Today we’re going to show you how to install both a plastic and glass screen protector perfectly. At MobilereviewsEh, we like our screen protectors to be perfect so out of the dozens of screen protector installs and reviews we’ve done, we’ve come up with a bulletproof process that works pretty well. In the video, we’ve also included tips for removing dust after an install (if you were unlucky) and advice for storing your screen protector if you are going to get a waterproof iPhone case.

Step 1. Remove the case

The only time we were we would consider keeping the case during a screen protector install is to if you were installing a screen protector that covered the entire glass face of the device. We would only do this to ensure a good fit between the screen protector and there’s only one screen protector were we might recommend doing this.

Step 2. Set up your space

There are two things here. The first step is to ensure that your setup area is clean but more importantly, make sure that you are installing your screen protector in a well-lit area. You are going to be placing a clear piece of plastic/glass onto another sheet of glass so being able to see everything is crucial.

Step 3. Wash your hands

Most instructions don’t include this step which seems silly to us. Washing your hands ensures that you don’t get any accidental smudging on the screen protector face as well as leaving fingprints on the adhesive side of the screen protector.

Step 4. Follow the install instructions

Screen Protector Installation - Instructions

Another silly step but this is where we’ll read the instructions. Screen protectors that are a little more expensive tend to include installation tools so you need to have a good idea of how to use them to ensure a perfect installation.

Step 5. Do a final clean

Screen Protector Dust Removal

We’ve noticed that many manufacturers will include a small microfibre cloth to clean the screen, but most of them seem cheaply made and tend to shed more than they collect. For this step, use anything that’s sticky to remove the last remnants of dust on your device. We use tape in the video guide but others have suggested compressed air and lint rollers as well.

Step 6. Line up the screen protector

Screen Protector Installation - Handling

Before lining up the screen protector set the device horizontally across your field of vision. Take the screen protector and peel off the adhesive sticker and line the screen protector up along the cutouts of the device. Holding the screen protector along each corner will make it easier for you to position the screen protector.

Bring the screen protector as close as you can to the device and if you think everything is lined up, let one of the sides fall. If everything still looks lined up, let the other side fall to the device.

Step 7. Getting rid of all the bubbles

Screen Protector Installation - Middle

Once the screen protector is on the device, press down on the middle. This should start the adhesion process on most glass screen protectors and also makes it easier to rub out the air bubbles that will show up on your install.

Thank you for your advice on installing my new glass screen protector. I also bought the edges because I was led to believe that my phone case wouldn’t fit back on, but it does and I think it would be better than those “corners (one of which didn’t even have the adhesive inside covered…..not good, Utomic) so I placed it back on after placing on the screen and am excited to see how well the glass protector works as opposed to the film protector I had before. Anyway, thanks again – good video 🙂

    Hello,
I am looking for the full body protection for my incoming Jetblack iPhong 7Plus. I will use the case for it but I would like to have extra protection because I may use different cases for it from time to time. I would love to hear from an expert like you before I made a purchase. Thank You

Also, turn the screen on, you can use an image the lets you distinguish the screen from the bezels, it helps you put the screen protector exactly where it should be.
I have installed some screen protectors using tape (temporarily, to maintain alignment) check it out in YouTube.

    Thank you for your videos!
