Top 10 MagSafe Car Mounts For the iPHone 14

Frequently Asked Questions

#10. Belkin Boost Charge Magnetic Wireless Car Charger

If you’re looking for a MagSafe car charger, the Belkin Boost Charge is one of the most expensive options out there and it doesn’t offer anything extra. The iPhone will come off the MagSafe compatible charge pad quite easily, which is handy if you need to grab your phone in a hurry but it isn’t a great feature in a bump car ride. The build quality of this Belkin MagSafe car mount isn’t bad BUT pales in comparison to some of the other car chargers in our MagSafe car mounts roundup. Especially when take into account the price of the product.

Belkin has marketed this MagSafe as a 10W charger but all our tests show it charging our iPhones at a rate of 7.5W. In fact, the Belkin Boost Charge is one of the slowest 7.5W MagSafe Car Chargers that we tested.  Only get this product if you find it at a steep discount.

#9. Uolo Volt 15W Magnetic Wireless Charging Car Mount

Uolo’s Volt 15W Magnetic Wireless Charging Car Mount had the potential to be one of the best MagSafe car chargers. It’s biggest downfall was the weak MagSafe connection it had with our test iPhones. The iPhone came off easily during our pull/push tests as well. This was a disappointing discovery, as UOLO had one of the best non-MagSafe car mounts.

Uolo claims that the charger can provide an iPhone 14 with 15W of wireless charging power, but our tests showed that it maxed out at around 7.5W. The speed of this Uolo wireless car mount was average.

The stand out feature of this MagSafe car mount are the extras that come with it. Uolo includes both dash and vent mounts, a car adapter, cable, and a base plate which is an above average selection of extras. These extras are a good deal given that the price of the car mount is only slightly above average.

While the product has some redeeming qualities, overall, we were disappointed with its performance.

#8. Mous MagSafe® Compatible Charging Suction Mount

The Mous MagSafe Compatible Charging Suction Mount is a great option if you’re looking for a reliable way to keep your iPhone charged while on the go. The strong MagSafe connection ensures that your phone stays in place, even on bumpy roads. Additionally, the build quality is excellent, and the provided charge speeds are average.

However, the reach of the dash mount is a bit short. Most car mounts have a telescoping arm but this MagSafe suction car mount does not. The power cable is permanently attached to the charge head, which we like as it will minimize disconnects.

Additionally, the MagSafe Compatible Charging Suction Mount includes a USB-A to USB-C adapter head, which is handy if you’re using it in an older car adapter. Overall, the MagSafe Compatible Charging Suction Mount is an average option for those looking for a reliable and affordable way to keep their iPhones charged while on the go.

#7. Ghostek NRGmount Magnetic MagSafe Car Charger

We discovered that the Ghostek NRGmount Magnetic MagSafe Car Charger during our testing to figure out what the best MagSafe car mount is. It only provided 5W of wireless charging (despite claiming 15W).

However, the slow charge speed is offset by price of this car charger. It’s the cheapest one on this list. Ghostek does include a cable though it’s a USB-A to USB-C, which was odd. Ghostek does include include both vent and dash mounts with the MagSafe compatible NRGMount.

Overall, we thought this was a decent budget option if you’re looking for a MagSafe car mount.

#6. ESR HaloLock Dashboard Magnetic Wireless Car Charger

From our perspective, ESR was one of the first companies to take MagSafe seriously. ESR’s lineup of MagSafe accessories are decent but they are not cheap.

The ESR HaloLock Dashboard Magnetic Wireless Car Charger had average magnetic strength so you’re iPhone is going to stay on the mount if you’re driving about in the city. This MagSafe Halolock car charger provided above average charge speeds at 7.5W and ran cooler than other mounts.

The biggest issue we had was that it only came with the arm mount and no adapters or cables, so you’ll need to spend an additional $15 to use it. Overall, it’s a decent charger if you don’t mind spending a little extra.

#5. Scosche MagicMount ProCharge4

Even though the Scoshe provides the most flexibility for mounting devices, it might be hard to find outside of the US. Scosche does not ship to directly to Canada although their site claims to be the #1 for mounts in Canada. In fact, we wanted to get the Scosche MagicMount ProCharge5 for this video but could only find the 4.

This MagSafe car mount had average magnetic connection strength so a big bump in an alley might dislodge the iPhone. From our tests, it was about 33% weaker than the average car mount. From a charging perspective, the ProCharge4 was slower than the average car charger. The power cable is built into the charge pad and car adapter which will minimizes cable disconnects.

Now why is a wireless car charger that is slow and not protective make it to the top 5? Because it offers a lot of extras. The ProCharge4 is a car charger that will work with ANY device. Every other MagSafe car mount that we’ve reviewed only works with iPhones. Scosche includes mounting plates for non-MagSafe devices. So this means you only need one car mount in a mixed-device household!

Scosche also includes cable clips, a vent mount, cables, dual port car adapter, dash mount in addition to the extra magnets and guides for non-MagSafe devices.

#4. Wofalo Magnetic Wireless Car Charger (Random amazon brand)

For all our product reviews, we buy from well-known brands and then scour Amazon for the best “no-label” brand. For the car mounts, we stumbled across the Wofalo Magnetic Wireless Car Charger.  It was highly rated but the thing that caught our eye was the 15W charging claim.

The Wofalo car charger is a great option if you’re looking for a strong MagSafe connection between your device and the mount. The standout feature for us is the retractable hook that latches onto the back of an air vent. This hook eliminates the chance that the charger slip out over time. This charger also provides one of the stronger magnetic holds on your device. From a physical standpoint, this is one of the safest car mounts for your iPhone 14.

Even though it’s advertised as a 15W charger, it actually charges at 7.5W. In our speed tests, it provided an average charge speed and it ran hotter than most mounts which was disappointing. The build quality of the product is above average and Wofalo includes a metal ring that can be used for non-MagSafe devices or cases. Keep in mind that a car adapter is not included, so you’ll need to purchase one separately.

#3. Otterbox Wireless Charger Car Mount For Dash+Windshield

The Otterbox Wireless Charger Car Mount for Dash+Windshield is a great option for those who are looking for a reliable and fast wireless charger.  Like every other non-“Made For Magsafe” charger in this list, it only provides 7.5W of wireless charging. BUT it’s one of the faster products.  It’s also one of the cooler running chargers, so you don’t have to worry about it overheating your device.

One of the more unique features of this product is the glow-in-the-dark ring built into the charge pad which allows you to easily locate it at night. The design of this mount, unlike the Anker and ESR mounts allow you to mount it on both your dash and windshield, making it a versatile option.

However, keep in mind that it doesn’t come with a car adapter, so you’ll need to purchase one separately. Nonetheless, the Otterbox Wireless Charger Car Mount is a great option for those who are looking for a high-quality, fast-charging wireless car charger.

#2. Anker 613 Magnetic Wireless Charger (MagGo)

@mobilereviewseh

You get what you pay for. Always. This Anker MagSafe car mount is pricey but it comes with extras!

♬ original sound - MobileReviewsEh

The Anker 613 Magnetic Wireless Charger is the most expensive mount in our Best MagSafe car mounts list. Is it worth it? We think so.

In our speed charge tests, this Anker product provided one of the fastest chargers at 7.5W. This MagGo MagSafe car mount was approx. 15% faster than the average charger in our charge speed tests though it did run hotter. The magnetic strength of the charge pad is quite strong so you won’t have to worry about your iPhone falling off.

The only downside is that it’s a dash mount only, as the mount head won’t swivel far enough for windshield mounting. But it does have a long mount arm and lots of extras. The power cable is integrated into the mount and connects to the included car adapter through the base.

#1. iOttie Velox - The Best MagSafe Car Charger

@mobilereviewseh

The iOttie Velox is an amazing car mount?

♬ original sound - MobileReviewsEh

iOttie’s Velox wireless charger is one of the best on the market for a variety of reasons. Firstly, it has excellent build quality meaning it will last you a long time.

Secondly, the MagSafe connection is very strong so your devices will stay securely in place while charging. Thirdly, it is incredibly fast- one of the quickest available- so you won’t be waiting around for ages for your devices to charge up.

The only downside that we could find (and it’s not a big one) is that the charge pad is fixed to the vent mount. Most MagSafe car charger manufacturers use a removable ball socket/cap setup so that you can use an existing mount base but you can’t do that with the iOttie Velox.

If you’re looking for a top quality wireless charger, the Ottie Velox is definitely the one for you.

Do MagSafe Cases Work With Magnetic Car mounts?

"
@mobilereviewseh

If you didn’t know, well, MagSafe won’t work with other magnetic car mounts

♬ original sound - MobileReviewsEh

You might be out of luck if you’re looking to use a MagSafe case with a magnetic car mount. MagSafe cases are generally incompatible with most magnetic car mounts on the market. This is because most non-MagSafe car mounts use a proprietary mounting system developed by the manufacturer, which is incompatible with the concentric magnets used with MagSafe.

Even if your MagSafe case does stick to the magnetic car mount, it probably won’t be stable. However, there are companies like Scosche which make magnetic mounts that are compatible with both MagSafe cases and non-MagSafe cases. So if you’re deadset on using a MagSafe case with a magnetic car mount, your best bet is to look for a Scosche mount.

Is MagSafe Strong Enough For A Car Mount?

@mobilereviewseh

Apparently my camera decided “Fck this, I am going to be out of focus for this whole video”

♬ original sound - MobileReviewsEh

The short answer is that MagSafe is generally strong enough for a car mount. However, there are a couple of factors that can affect the strength of the connection between the mount and your iPhone.

For example, the magnets on the car mount itself can make a difference. Some mounts have stronger magnets than others, so it’s important to choose a mount that will provide a secure connection.

Another factor to consider is whether or not you’re using a MagSafe case. If you are, the case itself can add another layer of protection between your iPhone and the car mount.

Of course, even with a strong magnetic connection, there are always potential risks associated with using a car mount. For example, if you hit a pothole while using a MagSafe car mount, there’s a chance that your iPhone could pop off the mount and be damaged.

So, while MagSafe is generally strong enough for a car mount, it’s important to exercise caution and choose a quality product to ensure the safest possible experience. From our perspective, always use a MagSafe Case with a MagSafe Car Mount. Never use a non-MagSafe case with a MagSafe Car Charger. The connection just isn’t strong enough. With the right MagSafe car mount, you can drive worry-free, knowing your iPhone is securely in place.

Are MagSafe Car Mounts Good?

If you’re like most people, you probably spend a lot of time in your car. Whether you’re commuting to work or running errands, it’s important to have a safe and convenient way to use your iPhone while on the road.

MagSafe car mounts are a great option for iPhone users, because they offer an easy and secure way to keep your phone in place while you’re driving. magnetically connects to your iPhone 12/13/14, so you don’t have to worry about it falling off or getting jostled around.

Most MagSafe car mounts also offer wireless charging, so you can keep your phone topped off while you’re on the go. And if you’re using an iPhone 12/13/14, you’ll get the fastest possible wireless charging speed of 15W.

The biggest downside to MagSafe car mounts is that the connection strength can vary greatly between different manufacturers. So it’s important to do your research and choose a mount that will offer a secure hold for your phone.

Overall, MagSafe car mounts are a great option for anyone who wants a safe and convenient way to use their iPhone while driving. What’s the best MagSafe Car Charger? Scroll up!

Can you use a MagSafe iPhone with car mounts (non-MagSafe)?

The answer is yes, you can! Even though MagSafe is a new feature for the iPhone 12 series, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work with older car mounts.

This goes for both normal mounts and charging mounts. Of course, you won’t be able to take advantage of the MagSafe feature if you’re using a non-MagSafe mount. This means that you’ll lose the ease of use that comes with MagSafe and you won’t be able to charge your iPhone at MagSafe rates (15W charging vs. 7.5W).

But if you’re okay with those trade-offs, then using a MagSafe iPhone with a non-MagSafe caryou won’t be able to attach or remove your iPhone from the mount easily. Additionally, you won’t be able to charge your iPhone at MagSafe rates (15W vs. 7.5W).

Even though you won’t be able to enjoy the full MagSafe experience, you can still use your MagSafe iPhone with any car mount. So if you’re someone who likes to keep their phone in a mount while driving, don’t worry – you can still use your MagSafe iPhone. Just keep in mind that you won’t be able to take advantage of all the features that come with MagSafe.
