Jabra Elite Active 65t Review

Jabra Elite Active 65t is a great set of wireless Bluetooth workout earphones. We didn’t have any issues with the product even with some of the gymnastics work we did. The battery life is decent and will last a while if all you use them is for workouts. The charging case is little annoying to deal with but will not overall dampen your experience.

As for the fit of the earphones, it really depends on the user. However we can assure you that even if you can’t wear it for a long time for work or studying, the Jabra Elite Active 65t can at least be bearable for one session of an exercise routine.

At Mobile Reviews Eh!, we do reviews based on actual usage. We do tests and use the products for days and maybe weeks. We also like working out so when we set our eyes on Jabra Elite Active 65t, we immediately noticed that no one really reviewed Jabra Elite Active 65t for workout purposes. That’s why we throw our hat into the ring and decided to review Jabra Elite Active 65t.

For the Jabra Elite Active 65t review, we tested how well the Jabra Elite Active 65t works as a pair of workout headphones. We designed a workout with 5 movements with 13 reps each because 5×13 is 65, for the 65 on the Jabra Elite Active 65t.

Here are the exercises we used:

  • 13 Triple Unders
  • 13 Rope Climbs
  • 13 GHD with a 20lb medicine ball
  • 13 Bar Muscle Up’s
  • 13 Power Cleans’s@ 165

Another notable workout that we tested with was::

  • 27 calorie row
  • 21 DB snatch at 50lb
  • 15 HR release pushups
  • 9 DB cleans at 50lbs

This may look straight forward but between each exercise, you have to hold a high plank based on how long it took you to do the previous exercise.

For example, it took us 60 seconds to row 27 calories, which meant we had to hold a plank for 60 seconds. And you have to do it all within 8 minutes!

Check out the video for all the other things we’ve done with the Jabra Elite Active 65t. We’re pretty sure we’ve covered all the basis in terms of movement.

Exercising with the Jabra Elite Active 65t

Out of all the exercise we did, the Jabra Elite Active 65t didnʼt fall out once. They sat so well in our ear that we didnʼt even have to do a finger poke which we have to do all the time with the Apple AirPods.

The Jabra Elite Active 65t sat in our ear so well that we weren’t worried about the buds from falling out while skipping or any of the gymnastics work. It was the same story for horizontal movements. We had no issues with the Jabra Elite Active 65tʼs in terms of deadlifts, power cleans and push presses.

For us personally, we get annoyed when we can feel our footsteps with in-ear headphones. We remember the first few buds that we used in our early 20ʼs were terrible when we moved around. That doesnʼt happen with the Jabra Elite Active 65tʼs.

Sweating and the Jabra Elite Active 65t

We’re not an overly sweaty person so we canʼt offer any insight to those who suffer from ear sweats. But if you need a pair of headphones for the gym, the Jabra Elite Active 65t are going to be a great choice. Jabra claims that the Jabra Elite Active 65t is iP56 which sounds fancy but it just means that theyʼre sweat proof. The Jabra Elite Active 65t should be good, even for the sweatiest person unless you sweat more than water. However, dust still might enter the enclosure.

We will note that youʼll need to wipe down the headphones after each session as sweat might start accumulating in the charge case.

Jabra Elite Active 65t Vs. Apple AirPods - Working Out

In our standard AirPod workout (50 DUʼs, 40 Burpees, 30 shuttle sprints, 20 HSPUʼs and 10 BMU), the AirPods fell out 3 times. The Jabra Elite Active 65tʼs did not at all.

There was one notable feature on the Jabra Elite Active 65tʼs that we thought was useful, the flow through sound. The flow through sound feature essentially pipes outside noise into your ears. This allows you to be aware of whatʼs going on around you. Useful from a safety standpoint or eavesdropping on the gym goers commenting on your poor form.

Using the Jabra Elite Active 65t outside of the gym

We canʼt stand using Jabra Elite Active 65t in the office. We can suffer through wearing them for an hour during a workout but anything more than that, our ears would start to hurt. We’re sure we could train our ears to take it. However, Jabra Elite Active 65t just feels so uncomfortable. Weʼve tried using different ear plug sizes and none of them really worked. This is too bad for us because the noise cancelling feature is handy in our office where the air circulation is really loud.

However, the fit issue is really a personal issue. We’ve spoken to people who wear these headphone hours at a time, on a daily basis and they have no issue with the fit.

Side note, if you do get Jabra Elite Active 65t, make sure the ear plug is attached securely to the bud. In our haste on our first day of usage, we didnʼt attach the plug properly and it got left in our ear. A couple of hours later our ear started to hurt and we realized what we had done. It was terrible.

Pulling the buds out of the case is a quite clumsy and we’re always worried about losing them. Unlike the AirPods where the headphones feel secure in the case, the Jabra Elite Active 65t “floats” a bit in the case so it feels like any light tap is going to dislodge them. The case is also harder to open when compared to the Apple AirPods.

The buds connect like every other BT device out there and if youʼre lucky, you might be able to connect the device to two devices seamlessly. Our first attempts at connecting the Jabra Elite Active 65t were blissful because the  headphones connected to the right device.

We tried adding a third device to the mix and it didnʼt work well. In fact, we had to remove Jabra Elite Active 65t from all the devices before we could use them again. Connectivity is a big thing for us given how often we switch between devices so features like Appleʼs W1 chip is really handy..

The last thing weʼll talk about is the battery life. The Charge case has 10 hours of power, the headphones have 5 . For us, weʼd get two weeks of usage if we only used them at the gym.

At the end of the day, the Jabra Elite Active 65tʼs work well as workout headphones. As headphones for everything else, we’re not as sure.
