Smartish Tuff Sheet Review – Good Install, Weak Edges Hold It Back

We’re big fans of Smartish when it comes to phone cases—but does their screen protector live up to that reputation? Unfortunately, not quite. The Smartish Tuff Sheet came in at #13 out of 20+ screen protectors in our testing. It has some strengths in install quality and oleophobic coating, but poor durability—especially at the edges—makes it hard to recommend. Let’s break it down.

ProsCons
Easy, dust-free install processVery weak edges (46.84N)
Affordable 2-pack ($18)Low optical clarity (0.88)
Above-average oleophobic coatingFlat, noticeable edges
Minimal glare increase (+7.58%)Scratches easily at 6H

Design

The Smartish Tuff Sheet ranks #10 in design. It’s made of standard tempered glass, confirmed by its spider web-like cracking pattern in our puncture tests. It covers only 92.49% of the iPhone’s front face, below the 93.07% average. That’s on the smaller side, but at least its clear edges ensure no pixels are hidden. Still, the edges are quite flat and noticeable in the hand.

Installation is where Smartish does well. The zig-zag install frame is a bit different, but it worked smoothly and resulted in a clean, dust-free install. The kit includes two screen protectors and doubles up on all accessories—except for the microfiber cloth, so don’t lose it after your first go.

Performance

Performance is mid-tier at best, with a #11 ranking. Clarity is below average at 0.88, compared to the average of 0.9. Glare increase is 7.58%, just slightly above the group’s 5.64% average—so not bad in bright environments.

The oleophobic coating is where the Smartish Tuff Sheet quietly impresses. Oil droplets traveled 6cm in just 33 seconds (well under the 44-second average), and the trail left behind was minimal. That tells us Smartish invested in a better-than-average grease-resistant surface, which helps keep your screen clean throughout the day.

Protection

This is where the Smartish Tuff Sheet really falls short. It ranks 18th in protection—near the bottom of the group. Minor scratches showed at 6H and became more noticeable at 7H. More concerning are the edges, which broke under just 46.84N of force—almost half the average of 86.18N. That’s one of the weakest edge scores we’ve seen.

It’s a bit of a paradox though: the central glass is quite strong. It took 282.18N to break under a sharp impact (above the 271.44N average). So what you get is a solid piece of glass that wasn’t fully finished—especially around the edges where most cracks start.

Value

The Smartish Tuff Sheet costs $18 for a 2-pack, which includes camera lens protectors and a full install kit. On paper, that’s solid value. But when you factor in the average performance and poor edge protection, there are better-performing screen protectors at this price. The nice install experience alone doesn’t save it.

Verdict

While we love Smartish for their phone cases, the Smartish Tuff Sheet screen protector doesn’t live up to the brand’s usual standard. It installs easily, has decent glare control, and features a solid oleophobic coating—but the weak edges and lackluster clarity drag it down. If you want a screen protector that looks good and installs well, it’s okay. But if you need serious protection or clearer visuals, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
