The Spigen GlasTR EZ Fit is one of Amazon’s most highly rated screen protectors—and based on the design and install experience alone, it’s easy to see why. But after some slightly destructive testing, we ranked it #7 out of 20+. While the design is top-notch, its performance and protection leave a lot to be desired. Let’s break it all down.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Top-tier install experience | Poor optical clarity (0.88) |
Best design ranking overall | Low protection rank (#16) |
Premium install tools (foam, frame, cloth) | Oleophobic coating leaves residue |
Large coverage area (94.08%) | Inconsistent edge durability |
Affordable 2-pack ($19) | Marketing claims don’t match results |
Design
Spigen nailed the design. This protector is ranked #1 in our design category—though with a bit of an asterisk. While Spigen claims it uses “high” alumino-silicate glass, our crack tests suggest otherwise. The crack patterns are too localized to match what we typically see with that kind of material. Regardless, the coverage is impressive at 94.08%, the highest in our recent test batch, and the edge is gently rounded—though still slightly noticeable.
What really sets the Spigen GlasTR EZ Fit apart is the install process. The kit includes a premium install frame, squeegee, oversized microfiber cloth, and a foam mat that keeps your iPhone from slipping around during install. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference. Out of the box, it’s one of the easiest screen protectors to apply cleanly.
Performance
This is where things take a turn. The Spigen GlasTR EZ Fit is ranked #12 in performance. It only retains 0.88 of the iPhone’s clarity—below the 0.9 average and far from the best score of 0.93. Spigen calls it “high definition,” but that’s a stretch.
Glare increase sits at 6.13%, which is slightly above average but not a huge issue. The oleophobic coating is hit-and-miss. Oil droplets traveled 6cm in just 38.75 seconds, which is actually a good time. But the amount of leftover residue—small oil drops—suggests a coating that wears poorly over time. Ideally, you want no leftover droplets or a few large ones, which this didn’t achieve.
Protection
Protection-wise, the Spigen GlasTR EZ Fit is ranked #16 out of 20+. It scratched at the expected 6H and 7H levels—despite the 9H+ marketing claims. Edges held up to 109.06N on average, above the 86.18N group mean, but the test results varied wildly. Some broke as low as the 60s, others held strong near 130N, pointing to quality control issues.
Impact resistance came in at 245.18N, below the 271.44N average. That’s a clear miss for a product marketed as being made from high-grade glass. For users expecting military-grade toughness, these results may be disappointing.
Value
The Spigen GlasTR EZ Fit costs $19 for a 2-pack, which is very reasonable—especially given the premium install experience. But with below-average clarity, inconsistent protection, and marketing that doesn’t reflect real-world results, that value becomes more debatable. It’s a screen protector that’s easier to install than it is to justify long-term.
Verdict
Spigen’s GlasTR EZ Fit is the definition of “form over function.” It installs beautifully and has a clean, generous design—but it falls short where it matters most: screen clarity and real-world protection. If the screen is the part of your iPhone you use the most (and let’s be honest, it is), you’ll want something that preserves it better. This one’s not it.
