Let’s face it, $40 for Apple’s Silicone Case is borderline offensive. And it’s definitely not the best silicoce case for the iPhone 11. If you’re looking for something that has a similar texture and is tougher, check out the Ballistic Soft Jacket. But there is one thing on the Ballistic Soft Jacket that the Apple Silicone case does better. Keep reading to find out!
That’s our take on silicone cases after trying ones from Spigen, Cyrill, ESR, Tekeways, and Surphy. In general, any product that sounds weird and only has an Amazon store, stay away from it.
At Mobile Reviews Eh!, we do tests and use the products in our everyday lives for days even weeks before doing an actual review. For this review of the best silicone cases for the iPhone 11, we tested if the silicone cases would discolor in our dark-colored pants. We also tried to find out how much hair can accumulate on the silicone cases in addition to all the other normal things we do in our case reviews.
If you like how we do our reviews, please consider buying the products on the links scattered on this article.
- Annoying to use
- Only case to stay dirty
- Poor build quality
When we got Tekeways Case, we thought that we had hit the jackpot because the Tekeways Case came with a pretty official-looking Apple packaging. Then we took a closer look at it and realized that everything about it is terrible.
The edge on the Tekeways Case folds, which exposes the corner. The microfiber cloth on the inside is poorly attached to the case and looks like it’s missing some fibers. The cut on the microfibre cloth looks like it was done by somebody who just used scissors for the first time.
The Apple logo feels like it’s going to fall off. The cutout along the mute switch looks like it’s been mangled by a honey badger who just didn’t care.
We might be able to forgive all these build quality issues, but we discovered that this case had the pocket pulling power of over 9000.
The silicone texture is excellent for usage but terrible for pockets. The silicone also attracts everything in your pocket, so get Tekeways Case if you want to clean your pockets.
The final kick to the face with the Tekeways Case is that it’s not cheap. It’s $4-$5 dollars more than the rest of the Amazon-only brands. And it is the only case that we’ve used that actually got dirty.
Surphy Silicone Case
- Better protection than Apple Silicone case
- Very annoying to put in and take out of pockets
- Everything sticks to it
The Surphy Silicone Case isn’t too bad. In fact, Surphy Silicone Case is one of the cheapest cases we tested and didn’t hate completely. The bottom of the iPhone is covered, which adds to the protection of the case.
The Surphy Silicone Case is one of the largest cases in this list, but that’s not a bad thing since the extra silicone is going to add to the impact protection for your overpriced iPhone. There are several pastel colors for you to choose from as well.
If you are thinking about getting a Peel Strong Grip case, get the Surphy one instead.
ESR Yippee Soft Case
- Wears mildly better than the Apple Silicone case
- Very annoying to use with pockets
- Stuff sticks to it
- Certain parts of the case edge are really loose
The ESR Yippee Soft Case is another run of the mill, pocket pulling, pant dropping Silicone case. ESR Yippee Soft Case is not as bulky as the Surphy Silicone Case but still thicker than the Apple Silicone Case. The build quality of the ESR Yippee Soft Case is much better than the Tekeways Case since nothing looks mangled, but the silicone on the ESR Yippee Soft Case is quite pliable.
Dust might be more of an issue as well since the silicone around the buttons and port areas is quite loose. The Surphy Silicone Case has a similar designed bottom area, but the silicone used in Surphy Silicone Case offers a bit of resistance. In contrast, the silicone on the ESR Yippee Soft Case has the flexibility of a wet noodle.
Ciel by Cyrill
- Not an Amazon brand
- Closest in quality to the Apple Silicone Case
- Very annoying to use with pockets
- Everything sticks to it
- Bottom edge is exposed
Ciel and Spigen are basically the same company, so what we say for beige-colored Ciel by Cyrill case will also go for the black Spigen case.
Out of all these cases we reviewed, the Ciel and Spigen Silicone case are the ones that mimic the Apple Silicone Case the most.
We really have nothing more to say about them.
Apple Silicone Case
- Not too annoying to use with pockets
- Doesn’t cover the entire phone
- Shows wear and tear more than other cases
The Apple Silicone Case is a thin, overpriced piece of silicone. We would almost consider it to be the Golden Goose of Apple’s iPhone accessory selection.
But here’s the thing, the Apple Silicone Case is the only one that might not be super grippy to depants you. The texture of the Apple Silicone Case is still grippy but it’s not offensive like every other case on this list which improves the overall usability of the device.
Other than that, it’s just another silicone case. Albiet a decent one and IF the next case didn’t exist, then the Apple Silicone case would have become the best silicone case for the iPhone 11.
Ballistic Soft Jacket
- Good protection
- Not as annoying to use
We like Ballistic Soft Jacket so much because of the above-average protection it’s going to offer your iPhone. Ballistic re-imagined the silicone case by adding tiny bumpers to the corners of the case.
Re-imagined is a strong word, but in the world of silicone cases, Ballistic has done something different, something better. The extra corners don’t seem like much, but they do add a bit more clearance to the screen of the iPhone without the added bulk.
With the feature aside, the Ballistic Soft Jacket also loves pocket lint as much as the other non-Apple cases, so keep that in mind when you’re choosing colors for the product.
Other than that, we had no issues with iPhone access and was generally pleased with our time with the Ballistic Soft Jacket. These are all the reasons why we think the Ballistic Soft Jacket is the BEST silicone case for the iPhone 11.
Peel Strong Grip
- Not as “grippy” as other silicone cases
The Peel Strong Grip is bulky for an iPhone silicone case. Because the Peel Strong Grip is silicone, it means that your iPhone won’t slide around easily — but you will still definitely notice the bulk. The Peel Strong Grip also covers the entire edge of the iPhone which makes it tougher than the overpriced Apple silicone case.
When it comes to using an iPhone in the Peel Strong Grip case, we had no issues. You can reach the buttons easily, ports cutouts are large and because of the silicone material, handling is decent. But we feel that the Apple Silicone case is a little easier to use because of the cutout at the bottom.
As for protection, the Peel Strong Grip does provide full edge protection, and the microfibre back helps to protect against dust. The edges of the case are quite rigid as well.
Also, the silicone that Peel is better than the ESR case that we’ve used as the button areas don’t have a lot of give to them.
When it comes to drop protection, Peel Strong Grip doesn’t explicitly state how high you can drop it but we wouldn’t go any higher than chest height.
