It can take a beating from a hammer but keys will leave a mark?

BodyGuardz ScreenGuardz HD Impact Review – Greasy is how we like pizza. Not our screen protectors.

Today we’re going to do a review of the ScreenGuardz HD Impact. According to Bodyguardz, it offers scratch protection, reduces smudges and provides impact protection but from our experience, there’s only one claim that’s really true. We do like the thinness of the screen protector but the thinness does make a perfect installation a little more difficult to achieve.

For our BodyGuardz ScreenGuardz HD Impact Review, we’ve given it a score of 3.5 Eh’s out of 5. This is an average rated screen protector that doesn’t do as well as others such as the Impact shield from Evolutive Labs , the Spigen Flex HD or the Tech 21 Impact Shield. If you’re wondering what else we’ve reviewed, check out our comparison tool on our website.

Design – Thin and a little more difficult to install

Bodyguardz Screenguardz HD Impact Review - iPhone 6In terms of design, we had to install the screen protector three times before getting it close to the edges. The thinness of the screen protector makes alignment with the iPhone a little more difficult. It only covers the touchable area of the iPhone so you need that alignment to be “bang on”. We didn’t come across any problems with removing dust from the screen protector and bubbles weren’t an issue, unlike some of the full-edge screen protectors we’re currently re-reviewing.

In terms of build quality, the thinness is excellent and since its a PET screen protector, there is no chance that it will chip. We’re not terribly impressed with the durability as a week in Aaron’s pocket has resulted in a bunch of scratches that wouldn’t have occurred on a glass screen protector.

Protection – Hammer 0, HD Impact 1

Bodyguards Screenguardz HD Impact - Hammer TestFor scratch protection, we’re not sure how much scratch protection the HD Impact actually has as keys will leave a mark on the screen protector. The screen protector does not heal itself like many of its competitors.

In terms of impact protection, the HD Impact will definitely keep your iPhone’s screen from almost normal day life will throw at it. The hammer strikes in the video are a good example of how strong this screen protector is.

Functionality – So…greasy…

ScreenGuardz HD Impact - Grease

In terms of iPhone access, there was no sensitivity loss on the iPhone. This plastic screen protector doesn’t add any glare or diffusion to the iPhone’s screen though we’re really not a big fan of how greasy the screen gets. Bodyguards says that it reduces smudges but from our experience, this screen protector will definitely make you feel like you need to take another shower due to its “grease attraction” factor.

All in all, the only time we would recommend this screen protector is if you’re looking for something tougher and last longer than a glass screen protector but if that’s the case, there are other options out there that are a bit better.
