Griffin Journey Review – Griffin makes another great case

Today we’re going to do a review of the Griffin Journey. This is one of Griffin’s newer iPhone 6/6S cases and we have to say that we’re impressed with the case. The Journey is a bigger slim iPhone case that offers great access to your iPhone, is extremely grippy and is drop rated up to 6.6 ft.

For our Griffin Journey review, we’ve given this case a score of 4.3 Eh’s out of 5. This is one of the better iPhone cases that we have reviewed and is up there with the Griffin Survivor Core, Thule Atmos X3 and Loopy Vibe. At Mobile Reviews Eh, we’ve personally reviewed over a 50 slim iPhone cases for the iPhone 6 so if you’re looking one specifically, check out the comparison tool.

Design – A brick of rubber for your iPhone

Griffin Journey Review - iPhone 6 - Bulkiness

In terms of design, the Journey is a thicker iPhone case and when its on your iPhone, you know its there. Everything fits well together and the case seems to hold up well. The back of the case doesn’t scratch as easily as the Griffin Survivor Core which some people didn’t like. The edges of the case are incredibly rigid and go up quite high on the iPhone so screen protectors that go slightly past the edge may not work with this case.

Protection – How tough is it really?

In terms of protection, the Griffin Journey is drop rated to 6.6 ft so if you’re looking for something that have you covered for almost every usage scenario and you’re not taller than 6.6 ft, then the Griffin Journey will have you covered. Now, with every case that a company claims to be drop-rated, we’ll take a chance with our iPhones to see if that’s actually the case. Check out the review video for the results of our 6.6 ft drop test.

The edges of the case are a little shorter for our liking but putting your iPhone down on a flat surface will keep the screen off a flat surface. In terms of dust protection, as we mentioned earlier, are very rigid so nothing is getting in between the iPhone and the case.

Functionality – Your iPhone will stay in your hand

Griffin Journey Review - iPhone 6 - Low edges

In our opinion, this is the best Griffin case in terms of handling. There are no issues getting to the screen of your iPhone. Access to the buttons isn’t tough like the Griffin Survivor Core or small like the Griffin Slim Armor. The cutouts are big enough to use third party cables and headphones and as we said earlier, the Griffin Journey is very grippy. Your iPhone isn’t going to fly out of your hand.

Again, we gave this case a score of 4.3 Eh’s out of 5. Have questions about our Griffin Journey Review? Please ask them on our Google+ page or on our Facebook page or through our About Us page.

Liked the review as this was one of the cases I’ve been debating getting. I currently have a Ballistic Tough Jacket for my 6 Plus and absolutely love the size of the lip around the screen and I now look for a sizable edge protection on my cases now.

I hear you are doing a Survivor Summit review soon and I’m really wondering if they’ve fixed the gap between the screen protector and actual phone and if it has a camera lens cover as the regular survivor diffused the images considerably..I returned my survivor within an hour because of this.

I’m also curious as to your thoughts on Summit versus Thule Atmos X4 assuming the issues with prior survivors are fixed with the summit.

    Hi,
You have a wonderful website. Thank you so much for doing all of your reviews. At the end of your video review you said you liked this a little bit better than the Griffin Survivor Core. Why?

Thank you so much! Your side-by-side comparisons are very helpful!

Its grippier and provides better handling of the iPhone in one hand but its a bit bulkier.

Will this work with the Cincer screen protector? Thanks for your reviews.

I’d say no because the journey’s edges extend just a little too far onto the iPhone.

So if you were to recommend a screen saver for use with the Griffin Journey case for iPhone 6, what would you recommend ?
Also when are you going to review the New Thule x5 case for the iPhone 6?
    Thanks!
    And Great Reviews!

Aaron, you mentioned that edges of the Journey case are low for screen protection. Are these edges really low to keep iPhone screen with Sir Lancelot glass protection installed off the flat surface?

To keep iPhone screen off the flat surface is critically important for me. Could you please compare height of the lips of Griffin Survivor Journey, Speck Candyshell, Incipio DualPro and Rhinoshield Playproof?

    Thank you in advance.
