We’ve tested a lot of USB-C cables, and while Mophie might not top our list for every kind of accessory, their Charge Stream USB4 cable left a strong impression. Let’s break it down.
Design

| Advertised Length | Measured Length | Cable Type | Charging Spec | Connector Material | Flexibility |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.8m | 0.89m | USB4 | PD 3.1 | Plastic with metal cap | Moderately flexible |
The Mophie Charge Stream is a USB4 cable rated for 240W charging with a nice braided finish. The head is capped in metal, and the rest is matte rubber. What really stood out was the compact connector and the surprising accuracy of the length. Mophie said 0.8m but we measured 0.89m. Add that to decent flexibility for a bulky USB4 cable, and you’ve got something that’s easy to live with day-to-day.
Durability
| Rated Bends | Bends Tested | Visible Wear | Functional |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3,000 | 11,000 | Minor fraying, loose head | ✅ Yes |
Mophie claims the Charge Stream cable is rated for just 3,000 bends which was way below industry norms. That said, we pushed it to 11,000 bends. Despite the low rating, the cable held up surprisingly well with only minor visible wear. Performance after 3.3K bends was virtually unchanged. At 11K, there was a slight voltage drop (–0.12V) and minor power and data speed losses, but nothing that would be noticeable in daily use.
Performance
| Test | Pre-Bend | Post-Bend |
|---|---|---|
| Voltage Drop | 0.64V | 0.54V |
| Resistance | 0.188 Ω | 0.180 Ω |
| Large File Write Speed | 238.0 MB/s | 239.0 MB/s |
| Large File Read Speed | 234.0 MB/s | 233.0 MB/s |
| 1GB Folder Write Speed | 238.0 MB/s | 235.0 MB/s |
| 1GB Folder Read Speed | 235.0 MB/s | 234.0 MB/s |
| 5GB Folder Write Speed | 238.0 MB/s | 238.0 MB/s |
| 5GB Folder Read Speed | 234.0 MB/s | 231.0 MB/s |
Fresh out of the box, this cable delivered. It handled all charging protocols without fail and offered solid voltage drop results at 0.64V. Cable resistance was right on the average mark at 0.188Ω. What surprised us most was the consistency: every test we ran for large file transfers hit exactly 238 MB/s write and 234 MB/s read, which is average but impressively repeatable. The same goes for our 1GB and 5GB mixed folder tests. Mophie Charge Stream cable had a steady, reliable performance throughout.
Value
At $29.95, the Mophie Charge Stream cable is more expensive than average. But you’re getting a premium-feeling, reliable product. It even includes a tidy silicone cable tie and a well-built aluminum plug. We’re used to paying a little more for Apple-compatible accessories and in this case, it actually feels justified.
Verdict
Honestly, we didn’t expect this much from a cable rated for just 3,000 bends. But the Mophie Charge Stream USB4 cable exceeded those numbers in our real-world tests, proving it can go the distance. If you want a well-built, dependable USB-C cable that charges fast and performs consistently, this one’s worth a look, even at the premium price.
