Spigen Ultra Hybrid TECH Review – Your iPhone is going to be safe because you’ll never use it

Today we’re going to review the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Tech. This is a slim Spigen case that is the brightest iPhone case that we’ve ever reviewed.

The Ultra Hybrid Tech is a clear iPhone case that offers great access to your iPhone. It’s also drop rated though the clear back on the case will show wear and tear a little quicker than other cases.

For our Spigen Ultra Hybrid Tech review, we’ve given this case a score of 4.6 Eh’s out of 5 which makes this case one of the top reviewed cases to date. In our opinion, this is the best Spigen case for your iPhone. Based on our reviews, this case is followed by the Neo Hybrid Carbon, Neo Hybrid Metal and Slim and Tough Armors. Design – Spigen says its made for synergistic technologies? What?

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Tech Review - Scratch Resistance

For design, the Ultra Hybrid Tech case is slim and light. The case comes with multiple pieces that clip into the clear shell. These pieces form the basis of Spigen’s “Synergy Technology”.

The clear shell is what makes the iPhone special, but we’ll cover why in the functionality part of the review. For build quality, the only thing worth noting is how easy it is to scratch the back though it’s a littler harder to scratch than Tech 21’s scratch resistants backs on the Evo Elite.

Protection – Protected by “Air Cushions”

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Tech Review - Multiple Pieces

Spigen claims that the Ultra Hybrid Tech is drop-rated without giving any specifics to drop heights. From our experience, being drop-rated for a slim iPhone case means that you can drop the iPhone safely from 4ft. On average, that’s texting height.

The edges on the case are a little too shallow for in our opinion but at least Spigen is consistent for the lip across all their iPhone products. There are no extra cutouts on the case and from our month of usage, the case retains its shape well.

Functionality – The best case for the hearing-impaired?

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Tech Review - Brightest Case Ever

When it comes to the functionality of your iPhone inside the case, we can’t say anything bad about it. The buttons are nice to use; the cutouts are large enough for 3rd party accessories and screen access is great due to the low edges.

The most unique part of the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Tech is the ability to turn your iPhone into a party light show. When the flashlight is on, the light reflects along the back of the case and exits out the sides. If you decide to activate your flash to go off when a phone call comes in, you’re going to get a free light show, and if you pair it up with an upbeat ring tone, you get a perfect setup for a mini-rave.

On a more serious note, if you are hearing impaired, this case will definitely let you know that you are reviewing a call if you decide to turn on the call notifications on your iPhone.

  1. Hey any chance you drop tested or are planning to drop test this case? I’ve been wanting a clear thin case that still provides some good drop protection. We’re always wanting more and more right?

  2. Love your stuff. Have a look at the X-Dora Lux cases. Also please, please, please mention if your using a screen protector and what it is while reviewing cases when test dropping them. Did you have one when testing the Play Proof cases?

    Thank you

  3. Hearing Impaired? Beg to correct you there. Deaf AND/OR Hard of Hearing please. 🙂 I’m Deaf. Hearing Impaired is incorrect term for us. 🙂 Our hearings aren’t “broken”. 🙂

    Love your site!

  4. Look here for case info always. From amazon reviews, it says that dust gets in the case, which scratches the back. Is there a clear case out there that offers drop protection and dust protection?

  5. I see someone asked about fitment with the Cinder and you stated it should fit. I agree. However their site says it has issues but that the non tech hybrid fits with their product. Aren’t they essentially identical cases? Anyway I guess I was just wondering if you had a chance to use the hybrid tech and cinder together, and if you had a recommendation for a screen protector for this case. Thanks!

  6. will this case fit well with the coolreall tempered glass screen protector full cover. You should really review this screen protector. I think its really good and you’ll like it too! Your videos are the most helpful out of anyone else’s and please review the coolreall tempered glass screen protector full cover.
    Thanks!

Little confused about how this will be be fine for the 6 and 6+ if the plus is much bigger?

Probably a simple explanation, and I don’t have my 6 yet, still with the 4s but preparing for the upgrade.

Really between the Playproof and the Spigen Ultra Hybrid, but the Hybrid has this TECH option, and there is the UH from the 6, and the 6s series that will fit.

Thank you for all the content, testing and diligence!

  8. Sorry – I feel like I am WAY off here, isn’t the PLUS model MUCH larger than the 6 stock model?
whereas the difference between the S models of each only millimeters? Anyways really not my major concern. I really enjoy the format and consistency to your reviews.
UHG I am so picky when choosing a case! So pretty much I will just keep watching reviews forever, and yours being the most encompassing.

Ps. Do you have experience with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid (not TECH) I don’t know if I can handle the look of the ribbed synergy inserts even for the added protection.

There is a UH for the 6 and one for the 6s that is compatible, though the bumper material looks different from the clear models than the solid colours.

    Anyways, thanks again!

  9. Aaron, thank you for your work, eloquence and easiness in your explanations. I’ve just follow your Amazon link to buy a «Spigen ULTRA hybrid tech» case for my Iphone 6. Happy Christmas and new year.

  10. Just discovered your site this week Aaron….you’re the best reviewer out there….although I did not have much luck w/ the K11(power button too stiff, barley works) so I’ll try this one. Just wanted to let you know I appreciate your hard work!

    Best regards,

    Chicago Jeff
