Tech 21 Evo Check Review – Galaxy S7 (and S7 Edge)

The Evo check is one of our favourite cases and reminds us of the Classic Check that we reviewed for the iPhone 6. It is wider than most S7 cases but the thinness offsets the extra width. The Evo Check fits the S7 which is surprising to me since the fit on the Evo and Evo Elite for the iPhone 6’s were quite lacklustre.

The “grippiness” of the case is awesome as it will not go anywhere when placed on a flat surface. Unlike other clear back cases like the Spigen Crystal Shell and Ultra hybrid, fingerprinting isn’t an issue because the hatching on the back visually hides the grease. The overall texture of the case is great for one-handed usage.

In terms of protection, the only thing it lost marks for is the lack of included screen protection. The edges of the case are high enough to protection the screen when placed face first on a flat surface and dust/debris won’t be an issue due to the fit.

We do have one gripe with the Evo Check when it comes to functionality. The power/sleep button isn’t as easy to press as other cases. This is a minor annoyance in my opinion as the grip that the case outweighs the slightly tougher to press button.

For our Tech 21 Evo Check review, we’ve given this case a score of 4.0 Eh’s out of 5. It is much better than the Evo Tactical and from a scoring standpoint, the Evo Wallet is close. In fact, it performs better than every Spigen and Otterbox case we’ve reviewed for the Galaxy S7.

Need help picking the right Galaxy S7 case?

From our experience with a dozen Spigen and several Otterbox cases, here’s are a couple of other use-cases:

  • Grippy – Spigen Tough Armor (soft rubber coated version)
  • Wallet Case – Spigen Wallet S
  • Clear-backed case – Otterbox Symmetry

Again, for our Tech 21 Evo Check Review, we gave this case a score of 4.0 Eh’s out of 5. Have questions about our post? Please ask them on our Google+ page or our Facebook page or our About Us page.

Kind of hard to take any article that is written from a mobile and has more grammar errors than a third grade book report. “Sticks in your hand”? Really, right in the title? Don’t you have an editor?

Nope. Got the point across didn’t it? The case “sticks in your hand”.

Would it be safe to assume the rhinoshield crash guard for the GS7 would rate the same as the one for the iPhone 6/+\s? Also what screen protector did you use in this video for the Check on the s7?

It was an Otterbox Alpha Glass. The score would be the same as the iPhone versions.

Also how was the screen protector with the evo check on the s7?

    Hi,

So what do you think is the safest and classy protective case for the Galaxy S7 along with the screen protector. I watch your video on tec21 however I did drop my phone and it cracked on the corner…:(
    Thank you
