Built for people of action with Apple Watches
The Bumper by Actionproof Review – A good idea that makes your Apple Watch a little gross
Today we’re going to review the Actionproof Apple Watch bumper. This is a bumper that fits around your Apple Watch and in our opinion, like the company name suggests, is geared towards people of action. It does the job in terms of protection but there are a couple of things that we don’t like about the Actionproof bumper when it comes to cleanliness, dressing yourself and looks.
Based on several months of usage with this product, for our review of the Bumper by Actionproof, we’ve given it a score of 2.9 Ehs out of 5. Its better than the Spigen Slim Armor and Liquid Crystal but doesn’t hold up to the Defense edge by X-doria. Fit/Looks – Black isn’t really black. (It’s dark grey)
When it comes to fit, the bumper isn’t great. Its made from a fancy type of rubber that has all sorts of features that generally won’t matter to most people. This bumper is made out of rubber so its not terribly rigid.
The bumper fits around the entire Apple watch and with the flexibility of the bumper, poses a problem as getting your watch a little wet will result in the water being trapped between the watch and the bumper. Another problem with the fit is that sweat, body grease and other types of dirt and debris tend to accumulate between the watch and the bumper so it makes your Apple Watch actually quite gross. The bumper also covers the digital crown which makes your sleek Apple Watch look a little odd.
In terms of looks, the black bumper that we have have isn’t quite black, its more like a dark grey. The matte look isn’t great and again the rubber bumper takes away from the design of the Apple Watch. If you’re an office dweller, we’d stick to something a little less awkward looking like a X-doria Defense Edge. Also, we have no idea why there is a red dot at the top of the case.
Protection – Keeps your Apple Watch safe from glancing strikes
In terms of protection, the bumper doesn’t come with a screen protector but people who need a screen protector for their Apple Watch shouldn’t have them because that screen protector concept for your watch is silly.
The edges of the bumper are high enough to keep your Apple Watch from glancing strikes so in my opinion, that’s all the protection you need for your Apple Watch. For some odd reason, my right hand tends to run into way more things so have the Bumper by Actionproof there saved my Apple Watch a couple of times.
Practicality – Gets…caught…on…EVERYTHING
Overall, in terms of practicality, the Bumper is better than some of Spigen’s offering but this Apple Watch product will annoying anytime you decide to put on a shirt or jacket. The rubber bumper tends to get caught on clothing so you’ll notice The Bumper by Actionproof every time you have to deal with your clothing.
This bumper isn’t a must-have for the Apple Watch but if you’re concerned about protecting the edge of your device while you do awesome things, the Bumper by Actionproof will suffice.
