NOTE: Glass screen protectors will crack. Itʼs glass. Donʼt be surprised when it does. Itʼs glass!

Belkin InvisiGlass Ultra

Belkin InvisibleGlass Ultra Review

Pros: Thin, can be professionally applied at an Apple Store

Cons: Expensive, doesnʼt provide full coverage

The BelkIn Invisible Glass surprised us. We picked it up at the Apple store and was surprised that it uses a variation of Gorilla Glass from Corning. This means that this expensive screen protector is tougher than your normal tempered glass screen protector.

The screen protector doesnʼt cover the iPhoneʼs screen 100% which isnʼt great considering itʼs cost but you wonʼt have any issues using it with any case. The edge of the screen protector is rounded (2.5D) so that will reduce the chance of chipping.

Patchworks ITG Silicate Glass

Pros: Strongest screen protector we have reviewed, multiple-use

Cons: Thick, noticeable edge

Buy it on Amazon (CA/UK/DE) or on eBay!

Glass Screen Protector ITG Silicate Review

The Patchworks ITG Silicate Glass is similar to the Belkin invisible Glass as both are chemically treated tempered glass which means they are going to be tougher than your average tempered glass screen protector. Weʼll be honest with you, this is the only screen protector that we’ve been able to re-install without any issues. We used it across 5 different iPhone 6ʼs and 7ʼs over two years without much hassle.

The Patchworks ITG Silicate glass uses glass that apparently has better clarity than normal lenses in eyewear but there was no way for us to tell if that is true or not. In fact, we’ve come across products that claim to have 99% clarity and again, thatʼs something no normal person will be able to differentiate.

This screen protector is exceptionally thick and unlike the Belkin Invisible Glass, it does not have a rounded edge. And this will be very noticeable on your iPhone. It has the same coverage area as the Belkin Invisible Glass which is ironic due to the toughness of the product. This screen protector will work with any iPhone case.

Rhinoshield Screen Protector - 9H Tempered Glass

Evolutive Labs Rhinoshield 9H Tempered Glass Protector

Pros: Not as expensive as other edge-to-edge screen protectors

Cons: Might not work with all cases

Buy it on Amazon (CA/UK/DE) or on eBay! OR get 10% direct from www.rhinoshield.io!

We consider the 9H Tempered Glass screen protector as the de-facto standard for edge-to-edge screen protectors. We’ve installed dozens of 9H Tempered Glass and we havenʼt had any issues with any of them.

The fit of the screen protector is perfect and fits extremely well with their cases. The fingerprint resistance and scratch resistance is decent (most glass screen protectors are) and we didnʼt have any issues with bubbling. As a side note, a bad drop will crack this screen (it is glass) so be careful. This warning goes for any normal tempered glass screen protector.

The only downside from our perspective is the fact that this edge to edge screen protector MIGHT not work with every case. Itʼs hard to say which ones will work as it depends on how well youʼve installed the screen protector.

We here at Mobile Reviews Eh! are  big fans of Evolutive Labs products. They produce exceptionally tough products and are constant improving their offerings. The Rhinoshield Mod is a good example of progress that they are making.

Rhinoshield Shield Screen Protector - Impact Protection

Pros: Toughest screen protector we have reviewed, re-usable

Cons: Fingerprinting and scratches will be an issue, mild yellowing

Buy it on Amazon (CA/UK/DE) or on eBay! OR get 10% direct from www.rhinoshield.io!

Rhinoshield Impact Protection Review

If youʼre clumsy or have your iPhone tossed around like a toy, youʼre going to need the plastic screen protector. It can take a beating and still offer decent access to your iPhoneʼs touchscreen. Plastic screen protectors will last much longer than glass as the moment glass getʼs chipped from a drop, itʼs pretty much done. The Impact Protection by Evolutive Labs will show a ding but that damage wonʼt travel like a glass screen protector does.

With this particular brand of plastic screen protector, you can take it off, store it and reuse it. Which is something you canʼt do with most glass screen protectors.

The downside of plastic screen protectors is the fact that fingerprints and scratches will be an issue. The grease-resistant coating on plastic screen protectors isnʼt as strong as glass and the hardness of the screen protector is between 3H and 6H (tempered glass is usually around 9H). Basically, the plastic screen protector is going to show minor wear and tear quicker than glass.

Tech 21 Impact Self-Healing screen protector

Tech 21 Impact Shield: Self Healing Screen Protector Review - iPhone 6/6 Plus

Pros: Heals small scratches, easy installation

Cons: Expensive

Buy it on Amazon (CA/UK/DE) or on eBay!

Check our full review here!

If the biggest turnoff for the Rhinoshield Impact Protection screen protection is the wear and tear over time, youʼll definitely need to check out the Tech 21 Impact Self-Healing Screen protector. Weʼve used several self-healing screen protectors over the last few years and the Tech 21 is the fastest one of the group.

The self-healing only works with minor scratches so the average personʼs pocket, backpack or purse isnʼt going to have anything thatʼs going to leave a large gash on this screen protector. This self-healing feature basically negates the fact that plastic screen protectors only have a 3H-6H hardness rating.

As an added bonusm Tech 21ʼs offering includes an install tool that helps you get the best fit between the screen protector and your iPhone.

The only noticeable downside of this screen protector is that it only covers the touchable area of the iPhone, like every other product on this list except for the Rhinoshield 9H Tempered Glass screen protector.

What would be the best choice of these for use with an Otterbox Defender with the original plastic screen taken out?

I’d go with the Evolutive Labs Impact Protection. The edges of the case won’t interfere with the edges of the screen protector.
