TPU and Aluminum? Find out if it’s a good mix in our Ghostek Cloak Review!
The Ghostek Cloak is better than average S7 case. It shines when it comes to protection as it is one of the few S7 cases that comes with a screen protector. The design of the case (like most Ghostek Products) is unique and handles decently.
For our Ghostek Cloak review, we’ve given this case a score of 3.7 Eh’s out of 5. It scores better than the Ghostek Covert and is on par with the Spigen Slim Armor as well as the Spigen Neo Hybrid. In fact, the Cloak is eerily similar to the Spigen Neo Hybrid.
When it comes to building quality, the Cloak fits well, but the aluminum did bend a bit after a multitude of installs. The case is rubbery enough to keep your S7 from sliding around on a flat surface, and as we said earlier, the texture is decent enough that it stays in your hand. We will note that it is not as grippy as other cases like the Griffin Survivor Clear as the bumper is a bit slick.
From a protection standpoint, the Cloak isn’t officially drop-rated, but it is one of the few cases we’d be comfortable saying that it could take on any accidental drop from chest height (due to how it’s built). The edges of the case are high enough to provide a bit of screen protection, and the case fits tightly together that dust and debris won’t be an issue.
The Cloak does have a couple of accessibility issues as the buttons are a little tougher to use in this case when compared to other S7 cases and as we mentioned earlier, the polycarbonate bumper portion is a bit too slick which reduces the 1-handed usage. It isn’t as bad as other cases as the bumper sits far enough in the case that the rubbery edges do catch parts of your palm.
