ExPro and Crystal Review – OnPro iPhone 6 Cases

The ExPro is a great iPhone case. The Crystal…not so much.

ExPro and Crystal Review – OnPro iPhone 6 cases – Give your iPhone tiny ears?

Today we’re going to do a review of the Expro and Crystal cases by OnPro. One of these cases has become one of our favourites while the other case is something we’d stay away from.

Both the Expro and Crystal are incredibly slim, and both offer great access to your iPhone. In fact, we were almost hard-pressed to call the Crystal a case because there isn’t much to the case (physically). The Expro handles quite well as the edges are quite rubbery whereas the Crystal handles like a bar of wet soap. Both cases have unique corners to them, and the Crystal even comes with two different sets of coloured bumpers so you can customize the case slightly.

For our ExPro and Crystal review, we’ve given the ExPro a score of 4.5 Eh’s out of 5. It’s a “winning” case in our opinion. The Crystal is the exact opposite as we’ve given the case a score of 3.8 Eh’s out of 5. Based on our current scoring system, any case below a 4 is something we wouldn’t recommend people to get.

If you’re looking other higly rated cases for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, check out the Rhinoshield Playproof, the K11 Bumper and the Thule Atmos X4. For a full list of cases, go here!

Design – Uniquely designed cases

In terms of design, both of these cases are unique because of the corners. The corners on the Expro look a lot tougher than the Crystal but both cases basically gives your iPhone a set of ears. Going against the general curves of the iPhone may be a risky move but some of your really like the design of the case based on the comments we’ve seen so far.

The Crystal is the slimmer and smaller case, but it’s so light that it feels cheap. The case barely reaches pass the edge of the iPhone. A screen protector installed on the iPhone will be the only thing that holds up the Crystal on a flat surface. Both of these cases have a very slick back to them so they’ll slide around quite easily. The backs will also show scratches a little easier than other cases.

The Expro has rubber edges that improve the handling of the iPhone whereas the Crystal, as we mentioned earlier handles like a bar of wet soap. The iPhone 6 Plus version of the ExPro has been on an iPhone 6 Plus for several weeks now and still looks like a brand new case.

Protection – Not drop-rated but the corners of the case can take a drop

In terms of protection, neither one of these cases is drop rated though we do give them a bit of credit for drop protection because of the corners. As you can see in our video, the edges do provide decent protection for you the iPhone.

From a general protection standpoint, the extremely low edges on the Crystal means less of the iPhone is protected. The Crystal is a very minimalistic case which means it’ll provide less protection than the average slim case.

Functionality – Great access to your iPhone inside the case

Accessing your iPhone inside the ExPro is quite nice. The buttons aren’t stiff, the rubber edges provide excellent handling and the cutouts at the bottom of the case are large enough for 3rd party accessories. Screen usability and viewability of the iPhone inside the Expro is great as well.

For the Crystal, access to your iPhone is a little different. There are no buttons on the case that seems like a great idea, but they sit flush with the case, so you have to be very intentional when you press the buttons. In a way, you’re going to need to push the buttons a little harder than the ExPro even though there is nothing covering the iPhone’s buttons. The lack of case at the bottom of the iPhone allows you to use any 3rd party cables. The lack of edges also means the screen usability of your iPhone is top notch.

Again, we gave the ExPro iPhone 6 case a score of 4.5 Eh’s out of 5, the Crystal a score of 3.8 Eh’s out of 5. Please ask them on our Google+ page or our Facebook page or our About Us page.
