Ghostek SoDrop Review – Awaken the audiophile in you

Today we’re going to review the SoDrop by Ghostek. These are over the ear bluetooth headphones that work well with glasses. The sound coming out of these headphones is pretty impressive and despite being wireless, you will always be able to get your jam on since you can plug them in via 3.5 mm jack. There is a mic that’s built into the headphones that allows you to take calls and use Siri.

For our Ghostek SoDrop Review, we’ve given these headphones a score of 4.8 Eh’s out of 5. The only tiny gripe we have with the headphones is the average call quality through the mic on the headphones but for a $100 bucks, you honestly can’t go wrong.

Design – Lighter than other tough cases

In terms of design, these headphones are collapsable and Ghostek does include a carrying case for the headphones. We are generally pretty adverse to carrying cases for headphones since they seem like a waste of time and effort but given the size and collapsable design of the SoDrops, you’ll want to use it. The headband and ear cups are covered with soft leather and you will be able to use them for hours on end without having to take a break due to sore glasses ears.

The headband is adjustable vertically as well as forwards and backwards so you won’t get annoyed at the button on top of your hat. The SoDrops fit well on your head so when your jam come on or that beat drops, you can do what you need to do and not worry about having the SoDrops fly off.

Sound – This is what $100 dollars sound like?

The sound coming from the SoDrop’s is mind blowing. Aaron honestly never knew his music could sound this awesome. These headphones are a grade above when compared to the Apple EarPods, Bower and Wilkin P5’s, Bose Noise Cancelling and Beats Wireless Solo2.

The sound quality of these headphones just make you want to lip sync/sing along with your favourite songs. The bass isn’t overwhelming and there’s a lot of detail to the audio. The audio is much fuller than the sound coming from the Bower and Wilkin P5’s. Everything is quite clear and for voices, you can distinctly pick out the raspiness of a singers voice which is something you could do with the Bose headphones.

But the best part of the headphones is the feeling of being blanketed by a wall of music. Compared to other headphones, where you know exactly where the sound is coming from, the SoDrops seem to envelop your ears from all directions so when that beat drops…you can definitely feel it in your soul.

Functionality – Pair with multiple devices

Controlling your SoDrops is pretty simple. You can pair these bluetooth headphones with two devices which is nice but you’ll spend a couple of tries trying to figure out the process to un-pair/pair since you can pair the headphones with two different devices. Pushing the call button will pause whatever music is playing and answer phone calls (if there is one).

Charging is done through a Micro USB port and on a full charge, the headphones will last over 8 hours and when they die, you can listen to your headphones wirelessly with them plugged into a USB port or using the 3.5 mm cable. As a side note, the mic functionality doesn’t work with it plugged in.

Again, for our Ghostek SoDrop Review, we’ve given these bluetooth headphones a score of 4 Eh’s out of 5. Have questions? Please ask them on our Google+ page or on our Facebook page or through our About Us page.
