Lunatik Seismik Review – iPhone 6/6 Plus

Design – A uniquely designed iPhone case that uses trusses?

In terms of design the Seismik is a fairly thin case but because of the impact truss on the case, it does make your iPhone wider though this extra bulk isn’t that noticeable since the edge of the case is quite thin. The Seismik is going to be great for people who pinky 1-hand their iPhone since the edges on the Seismik have a nice place for your pinky’s to rest. Taking your iPhone in and out of the Seismik is quite easy as well.

We are most concerned with the build quality of the Seismik. Long term use is something we can’t observe for this Lunatik Seismik review but on our Seismik is starting to lose its glossy sheen. When that happens, you’re left with a matted look which results in the case slowing falling apart. We’ve seen this happen on one of our iPhone 5S Seismiks as the case becomes completely mangled after a short period of usage. Check out the video for a couple of shots of the mangled iPhone 5S case.

Protection – It bounces but really, is it drop-rated? Nope.

In terms of protection, the Seismik will most likely do a decent job protecting your iPhone from accidental drops from texting height. The case isn’t drop rated, donesn’t have multiple layers though it has an Impact Truss which seems to make sense. We would guess that this case would provide as much protection as an Urban Armor Gear case at 4 ft.

In terms of screen protection, the Seismik does have a decent lip that will allow you to install fairly thick screen protectors while keeping it still elevated off a flat surface.

Functionality – Nothing special but again, that’s not a bad thing

The Seismik is awesome in terms of accessing your iPhone inside the case. The buttons on the Seismik are just so nice as the average case manufacturer usually does a half-assed job with buttons, either making it too tough to use or just cheating and having cutouts. Lunatik has taken the time to design buttons that mimic the iPhone’s buttons 100% which we love.

The Camera and flash and sound aren’t hindered and you can easily use third party cables and and headphone jacks with the iPhone inside the Seismik. The Seismik doesn’t come close to the touch screen of the iPhone so screen usability is optimal.
