Thin and Tough? For Real?

Today we’re going to review the Holy Grail by Sir Lancelot. This is a glass screen protector for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus that is made from Bulletproof Glass and despite not being marketed with a certain of hardness, will hold up better than most screen protectors that are of “9H hardness”.

This is a thin, glass screen protector for your iPhone 6 which we really like. The thinness of this glass screen protector is nice but it does come at a cost in terms of re-applicability. It is scratch proof and will definitely protect your iPhone better than if you didn’t have the Holy Grail on your device.

For this Sir Lancelot Holy Grail review, we gave it a score of 4.1 Eh’s out of 5. This is a better than average glass screen protector in our opinion due to its thinness and toughness. In our opinion, this is a worthy screen protector to get if you’re looking for one!

Design – Really? Thin and Tough? Mind blown!

In terms of design, the Holy Grail is better than most other glass screen protectors that we’ve reviewed. We’re particularly fond of how thin the screen protector is as it seems as thick as a plastic screen protector without all the viewability hassles of a plastic screen protector. The rounded edges help with chipping and it extend slightly past the touchable area of the iPhone which means there will be no dead spots along that edge.

The only downside of a thinner screen protector deals with the re-applicability of the screen protector. We took a couple of gouges out of our screen protector during our scratch tests and it broke which means this screen protector is pretty much done.

We didn’t have any issues with bubbles after a couple of re-applications for this Sir Lancelot Holy Grail review and the dust was managed by using other dust removal stickers from other screen protectors (Sir Lancelot didn’t include any!)

Protection – Tougher than other screen protectors

In terms of protection, the Holy Grail is made from bullet proof glass but we’re not too sure if it’s actually bullet proof and there’s almost no way for us to check that given that we don’t own any guns…Canada right? We’re so screwed if the zombie apocalypse ever happens.

We did test the screen protector against Bertha, our 200 g steel ball at 18 inches and the screen protector protected the iPhone without any problems. In terms of scratch protection, this is one of the more scratch resistant screen protectors that we’ve come across. Sand paper still leaves it marks but its not as apparent as other screen protectors.

We took a drill to the Sir Lancelot Holy Grail and the screen protector survived though there were very fine scratches that looked like they occurred in the center of the glass. Here’s the video on Facebook.

Functionality – It covers the WHOLE iPhone screen (most don’t which is silly)

In terms of functionality, we didn’t come across any sort of issues with the sensitivity of the iPhone’s touchscreen under the screen protector. As we mentioned earlier in the review, the screen protector extends slightly past the touchable area which means you have access even to the edges of the iPhone. Getting to the the “A-Z” scroll menu on in your Contacts App isn’t going to be a problem at all!

The last thing we’re going to talk about is the viewability of the screen protector and there aren’t any issues other than we felt that fingerprints seemed to be more noticeable on the screen protector. Sir Lancelot says there is a Oleophobic coating on the screen protector but we feel that it should be a little stronger.

  • Easy to apply. You can place it gently, move it around, the apply pressure at center to lock it. Works with both Thule X3 and Spiegen Tough Armor.

  • I bought this product and was very disappointed. I do not recommend this product. A couple of days after I applied it to my iphone 6s screen I tried to push it a little to one side of the screen with my finger as it was not perfectly aligned. The sir lancelot glass protection screen cracked. Very surprising if it is advertised to be that strong.

Last week I bought a generic tempered glass screen of 9 Euros from a regular shop in my city and that one is working great.

My advice is to stat away from expensive screen protection products. They are just hype and no different than regular screen protection products.

Sir lancelot screen protection was a rip-off in my experience

  • In terms of protection/strength how do you think this compares with the ITG you recently reviewed? Between those 2 which would you pick for general use?
