Slim cases won’t offer much protection, but the Pitaka Fusion Weaving makes up for the lack of protection with flair. It is a great looking ultra-thin case. The inter-color weaving on the case looks incredible. The marketing fluff says the accents are based on music, but all we know is that having a splash of color breaks the monotony of a carbon fiber case makes it pop.
Unlike other ultra-thin cases, Pitaka also added a slight edge to the case. This tiny edge makes a big difference in terms of handling as it allows us to have a better handle on our iPhone in the Fusion Weaving. Thin cases generally handle better than normal iPhone 14 Pro cases but it’s another level with the edge.
Carbon Fiber/Aramid fiber cases also tend to showcase fingerprinting easily, but the finish on the Fusion Weaving seems a it thicker, so it doesn’t look as apparent.

Caudabe Sheath’s standout feature is the finish on the case. It isn’t abrasive like some of the cases on the list, but the moment you clamp down a bit, the iPhone feels secure in your hand.
It was also a surprise to us that the edge on the Caudabe Sheath is tight. Most thin cases will have an edge that is extremely pliable which is terrible for drop protection. But not the Caudabe Sheath.
Caudabe claims that the Sheath will offer 6ft worth of drop protection, but given that it’s a single-layered case with an edge of 2.0mm, we’re not too convinced. But your iPhone is going to be fine from any sort of daily life drop.
For the Ghostek Atomic Slim, the standout feature for us is the metal finish coupled with the clear back. This is just a unique looking and feeling case. The aluminum frame makes your iPhone 14 feel cool to the touch.
One of our favorite setups was using a Shellrus Screen Protector with a Ghostek Atomic Slim. Both these products feel cool to the touch, and our iPhones just felt so different.
In addition to this cool case (literally), Ghostek has made the Atomic Slim a tripled-layer case by adding in a layer of shock-absorbing foam into the corners and edges of the case. Ghostek calls it R7 (a throw back for Mazda?) and having the extra layer of drop protection makes this a better than average iPhone 14 Pro Max case.
One of the issues you will have with this case will come from drops as the frame may bend. The corners aren’t metallic so the occasional corner drop won’t bend the frame, but a bad one along the back or edge on an uneven surface might.
If you’re of the usual plastic looking iPhone 14 case and want something different, get a Ghostek Atomic Slim.
We love Rhinoshield. They haven’t made our top lists for the last couple of years due to not having MagSafe compatibility. But over the last year, Rhinoshield has added MagSafe to their lineup, and they’re back, baby!
For our list, we’ve lumped the SolidSuit, Clear Case, and Bumpers together just so that we can fit more case brands in the video. If we were to break out the score, the SolidSuit would be the highest rated among the three.
The standout feature for us with Rhinoshield cases is the buttons. They are the OG’s of floating buttons, and many have copied, but none have replicated.
Their cases are singled layered cases but offer drop protection of a triple-layered case. Rhinoshield is a materials company, not a case company and the TPU blend they use in Rhinoshield iPhone cases is top notch. With the latest clear case, Rhinoshield has added a strap feature that doesn’t seem useful, but it’s there if you need it. The biggest draw for some is going to be the custom prints you can do on all their products.
We have a love and hate relationship with DBrand Grip. It has flaws but the good overshadows them a lot. We’ve grown to appreciate this product because of the accessibility it gives your iPhone, like the tapered edges. We also appreciate the ability to customize the look of the case with a skin, and just how the grips on the edges are. iPhone access in the DBrand Grip is top notch. If we were to improve it, the only thing we’d add are floating buttons.
But the texture on the DBrand Grip is borderline too aggressive. If you’re trying to figure out how much lint is in your back pocket, get the DBrand Grip. If you’re tired of getting lint rollers, buy a DBrand Grip. If you’re curious what the pocket liner on your pants look like, get the DBrand Grip.
This case isn’t as protective as other cases in this list which is a downer. If you drop it enough times, the corners will come apart as the corners are only made from one material.
The biggest selling point for Phone Rebel is the price vs. extra features. Each Phone Rebel case includes a FloLab screen protector. And from our testing, FloLab produces some of the best glass.
We’ve bought the latest iteration and don’t think the cases will be as protective. In the latest generation, Phone Rebel removed the TPE, which is the secret sauce in terms of drop protection.
The normal-looking case still has an extremely tapered edge along the screen edge and case edge, and it almost feels round. The finish is a bit too slick for our liking, but it’s usable. Phone Rebel still has their unique-looking corner-looking case as well.
The standout feature for the Phone Rebel iPhone case lineup is the build quality. They are well-built and are priced at an affordable price.
This is the only silicon case in our Top 10 Cases For The iPhone 14 list. The MagBak case is an amazing product if you’re willing to buy into MagBak’s ecosystem.
With the MagBak case, you get a great handling case because of the silicon finish, a protective case because of the oversized corners, and a set of MagStripes.
The MagBak wallet is one of the best MagSafe Wallets out there. It has a high card capacity and is a phone grip. MagBak has kept the location of the MagStripes in their case, so the MagBak wallet also acts as a stand in both portrait and landscape modes.
MagBak includes two MagStripes with the case, and if you’re willing to spend more and get their MagSafe charger attachment, you end up with the fastest MagSafe car charger if you mount the MagStripes in your car.
MagBak also has a clear case, and it’s pretty decent as well. We prefer the silicone, but if you’re a fancy person who likes to showcase the color of their device, the clear case isn’t bad.
There are four things that we love about Catalyst Influence which makes it not only one of the best cases for the new iPhone but also the toughest case for the iPhone 14 on this list. The first is the rotating mute switch. Most cases have a tiny hole you need to pick at to access the mute switch, but Catalyst has a rotating switch for it.
toughest case forThe second thing that we love about the Catalyst Influence is the finish on the edges. Unlike the DBrand Grip, the finish on the Catalyst Influence doesn’t feel like it’s going to take a layer of skin off. It’s there when you need it and isn’t noticeable on a daily basis.
The third thing we love is the buttons. Catalyst added floating buttons years ago and the make it feel like the Catalyst Influence isn’t there. And the last thing that we love about this product is the protection it offers. Catalyst’s cases are tough. We have no issue dropping it from 6ft on a daily basis if we needed to.
The Catalyst Influence also has a sound-enhancing feature that focuses the sound forward, which makes it seem louder but changes the fullness of the sound. From our perspective, it just eliminates any chance that you can’t hear your phone because nothing can directly cover the speakers on the iPhone.
When it comes to protective clear cases, nothing beats the Casetify Ultra Impact.
The standout feature for us is the corners. The oversized corners add to the usability of the iPhone because it doubles like a kickstand in your hand. The moment it’s in the fleshy part of your palm, your iPhone isn’t going anywhere.
The second is that the oversized corners allow you to drop your iPhone from 10ft if you wanted to. The triple-layered Casetify Ultra Impact is going to handle any sort of terrible drop you have planned for your iPhone in the future.
iPhone accessibility is also top-notch. The buttons on Casetify cases do not float, so they don’t have the same crispness as Catalyst Influence. The edges of the Casetify Ultra Impact taper are along the center, minimizing the edge of the case. You won’t notice the case while you swiped mindlessly through your phone. The edge of the case is TPU, so you’ll have no issue with grip.
The back of the Casetify Ultra Impact is raised as well, so your custom monogrammed back isn’t going to look terrible over time. There’s a lot of texture on the case that helps with the handling of the iPhone.
The last thing about Casetify are the designs. You’ve got a lot to choose from, or you can get a custom monogrammed one. We noticed that Casetify has updated their Casetify Bounce case which offers even more drop protection and the new iteration might give the Ultra Impact a run for you money. Stay tuned!
Between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, Mous upgraded the Limitless 4.0 to the 5.0. With the Limitless 5.0, Mous has added two new additions that make the Limitless 5.0 our top pick. The first is the buttons. Mous now uses floating buttons, so you get the crisp button feedback as if the case wasn’t there.
The second thing is the addition of grip strips. Lots of case companies add features to improve the grip, but Mous takes it to the next level. It’s not that the grip strip is really sticky like the Catalyst and DBrand Grip, it’s because of the angle of the grip strip. When your iPhone starts to slip out of your hand, that grip strip guides the iPhone towards your palm and not the ground. It’s very subtle, but it actually works.
And if it does fall, the triple-layered case will protect your iPhone from any sort of drop. It still has the oversized corners for drop protection, specifically face first drop protection, the edges are still tapered for iPhone access, and Mous has added back the microfibre lining on the inside of the case. Oh, and the area for a wrist strap if you’re so inclined.
