The Evo Tactical is a different story. On the packaging for the Tactical, it is described as having a “Rugged Tactical Feel” but it has the exact same width and thickness as the Evo Check which is described as “Ultra Thin & Lightweight”. If you need a case to play air hockey with, we’d suggest getting the Evo Tactical because it will slide around easily. The texture on the case looks “grippy” but its totally not. The slick corners make it tough to safely use the S7 with one hand in this case.
Protection wise, the Evo Tactical scores as well as the Evo Check. The edges of the case are high enough to protection the screen when placed face first on a flat surface and dust/debris won’t be an issue due to the fit.
In terms of functionality, the Evo Tactical also has the tough sleep/power button issue but unlike the Evo Check is completely devoid of any texture to make using your giant smartphone in one hand any easier.
For our Tech 21 Evo Check review, we’ve given this case a score of 3.5 Eh’s out of 5. The Tactical scores lower than the Evo Check and Evo wallet. Looking for other brands? Check out our reviews for Spigen’s S7 cases and Otterbox’s S7 cases.
From our experience with a dozen Spigen and several Otterbox cases, here’s are a couple of other use-cases:
